Y es que esta novela retrataba los líos «amorosos» de la alta sociedad, a la que pertenecía. Además, en ella representó la figura de Byron. Además de escribir poesía, también publicó otras tres novelas: «Graham Hamilton», «Ada Reis» y «Penruddock». Fue amiga de la escritora irlandesa Lady Morgan / Sydney Morgan (Dublín, 1781 - Londres, 1859), a quien su marido (William Lamb) le puso una pensión de 300 libras. «The Wild Irish Girl» (su obra más conocida), «St. Clair», «The Novice of St. Dominick», «The Missionary: An Indian Tale», «O'Donnell» (su mejor novela), «Italia», «The O'Briens and the O'Flahertys», «The Book of the Boudoir», «Dramatic Scenes from Real Life», «The Princess», «Woman and her Master», «The Book without a Name», «Passages from my Autobiography», «Life and Times of Salvador Rosa», «Florence Macarthy», «Woman, or Ida of Athens»... son algunas de sus obras.

El padre de Lady Morgan era el actor y escritor Robert Owenson.

Tuvo como institutriz a Selina Trimmer, que era hija de la escritora de libros infantiles y educativos Sarah Trimmer (Ipswich, Inglaterra, 1741 - Brentford, Inglaterra, 1810).
