Lyman Frank Baum / L. Frank Baum (Chittenango, Nueva York, Estados Unidos, 1856 - Hollywood, Los Ángeles, California, Estados Unidos, 1919) es famoso sobre todo por escribir «El maravilloso mago de Oz» («The Wonderful Wizard of Oz»), novela normalmente conocida como «El mago de Oz» por ser el título de la película basada en ella («The Wizard of Oz»), que también es todo un icono. Es necesario añadir que en esta historia muchos han visto reflejada un pensamiento económico, o la lucha por los derechos de los homosexuales. El arcoíris es un símbolo de esta lucha por lo mismo. Y es indudable su influencia en muchas obras de arte posteriores, incluida la película a la que he hecho referencia anteriormente, que es casi más famosa que la novela. Debido al éxito de esta novela, aparte de «El maravilloso mago de Oz», escribió otras historias que tenían lugar en la Tierra de Oz. Como «The Marvelous Land of Oz», «The Road to Oz», «The Emerald City of Oz», «The Lost Princess of Oz», «The Magic of Oz »...
