Walpole nos ha dejado numerosas obras. Solía escribir una novela cada año. Lo hacía con rapidez y no solía revisar sus obras. No puedo decir lo mismo de mí. :-) Seguramente no me organizo bien, porque mis novelas son una continua revisión. Seguramente porque hay en ellas una parte lógica y comprometida que requiere de mucha reflexión. Es cierto que los párrafos que salen directamente de mi subconsciente apenas requieren ser revisados y suelen ser los que más me gustan, pero no quiero escribir solo para entretener. No se sabe dónde nació ni su origen (ni su verdadero nombre), pues no siempre ofrecía los mismos datos. Una de sus afirmaciones señala a Burdeos como ciudad natal, sin embargo se ha casi comprobado que pertenecía a la población criolla de la colonia de Luisiana (con habitantes de origen español, portugués, francés, nativoamericano, africano...). Se convirtió al judaísmo para casarse con un músico llamado Alexander Isaac Menken, del que tomó los apellidos, y mantuvo su confesión judía toda la vida. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana_Creole_people

Aunque ya actuó de niña con el ballet de la Ópera Francesa, prefirió dedicarse a actuar y se hizo especialmente famosa con la obra de teatro «Mazeppa». Llegó a ser una de las mujeres más deseadas, sin exagerar, como una Marilyn Monroe. En la foto, la vemos con Alejandro Dumas padre, con quien tuvo una relación. Murió con solo 33 años, pero después de haber disfrutado de una intensa vida. Escribió poemas, ensayos..., pero no fue muy valorada por su faceta literaria. Por ser mujer y actriz famosa, no se tomaron en serio su poesía. «Infelicia» es uno de sus libros de poemas.
