Una de sus frases: «Hay que pensar como un héroe para comportarse como un humano decente» * El trabajo de la felicidad Pensé en la felicidad, en cómo se teje a diario con el silencio de la casa vacía y en que no es súbita ni gratuita sino una creación, como el crecimiento de un árbol. Nadie lo ve, pero detrás de la corteza crece otro círculo en anillos que se expanden. Nadie oyó a la raíz cavar más hondo en lo oscuro, pero por ese trabajo hacia adentro el árbol se eleva y sus penachos brillan, y sus hojas destellan. Así, la felicidad se teje con la paz de las horas y hunde sus raíces en lo profundo de la casa sola: en el rincón, el busto antiguo; los frescos pisos encerados, blancas cortinas que ondulan suave y continuamente cuando libre se mueve el viento silencioso por el cuarto; una biblioteca, una mesa y la pared blanqueada– esos son los dioses de la casa, queridos y familiares, aquí el trabajo de la fe puede hacerse mejor y el árbol que crece es musical y verde. Porque ¿qué es la felicidad sino crecer en paz, el sentido atemporal del tiempo cuando los muebles pasaron toda una vida en el mismo lugar y los viejos sueños, así como el viento al moverse, agitan las hojas de la felicidad presente? Nadie ha oído una mente ni escuchado un pensamiento pero donde alguien vivió en introspección el aire queda cargado de bendiciones, y bendice; las ventanas miran a las montañas y las paredes son amables.
