La historia de la humanidad es una película de Irwin Allen de 1957. Está basada en la novela homónima The Story of Mankind del historiador, periodista, escritor... Hendrik Willem van Loon (Rotterdam, 1882 - Connecticut, 1944). Van Loon emigró a Estados Unidos en 1902 para estudiar en la Universidad de Harvard.
