El escritor y dibujante George du Maurier (París, 1834 - Hampstead , Inglaterra, 1896) fue colaborador de la revista «Punch» (mientras dibujaba también para otras publicaciones), aunque también es conocido como el autor de la novela gótica «Trilby», que inspiró la novela «Phantom of the Opera»/«El fantasma de la Ópera» de Gaston Leroux.
